Consumer electronics giant Apple (AAPL) has released iOS 18, the latest software that powers its popular iPhones.
Apple is touting that the iOS 18 update changes the way the iPhone operating system looks and feels, including the ability to change the colour of the home screen’s icons and offering other new customization options.
However, the new software does not include “Apple Intelligence,” the company’s artificial intelligence (A.I.) platform, which is likely to disappoint some users and investors.
Apple says that Apple Intelligence will be released to the public separately later this autumn in a beta version.
iOS 18 is available for downloading on all iPhones released in 2018 or later. Additional changes provided by the new software include the ability to place apps anywhere on the home screen.
There are also more shortcut options, the ability to bold or italicize text within the Message app, and the ability to react to messages using only emojis.
iOS 18 also comes with a new app called “Passwords” that can save and generate strong passwords for iPhone users.
The stock of Apple has risen 17% this year and currently trades at $216.32 U.S. per share.
