You Will Wonder Why You Didn’t Think of This Teacher’s Incredible Lanyard Hack

Listen, I know administrators and guidance counselors don’t do it to purposely fluster us, but am I the only one whose school schedule and daily timing for classroom periods changes every single year? Changes and tweaks are driven by new state requirements or efforts to optimize the day for students, and each alteration brings a slight adjustment in class duration, creating a jigsaw puzzle of daily timings that never quite settled with students or teachers. Caught in this ever-shifting landscape, I found myself constantly juggling different classroom timings, hastily scribbled in Expo marker and frequently updated. It was a routine mix of chaos and confusion, leaving me often struggling to recall precise period times, especially when I was away from my written schedules. But what if there were a simpler solution to this annual upheaval?

TikToker @mrslarsenslittles offers a quick solution to this yearly chaos.

The hack? Printing a tiny copy of the schedule and her class list to attach to her lanyard.

Genius! Let’s take a look:

We already have to have our badges on us to access rooms in our building or to make printer copies, so why not add something we are always wracking our brains for to our badge too? I’ve even known some teachers to create these laminated schedules for each of their student lanyards as well. Don’t worry—if you have 150 students, divide this by homeroom periods, so only 30 laminated pieces per teacher! Some students always have to have their lanyard on, and this eliminates the constant question “When does such and such period start/end?” We are all about efficiency with this lanyard hack over here!

Some teachers are offering extra ideas for this useful lanyard hack too!

This is a great idea! If we’re making these for ourselves and students, let’s also create some for our substitute teachers!

I kind of felt a little sad describing this lanyard hack to my husband, who would also need five different little schedules for the week, BUT maybe we can spin this into another idea of making each laminated piece on the back of the lanyards clipable! That way changing out the daily laminated piece can become part of the morning daily routine. There’s an idea, @mrslarsenslittles!

Again, this is a great idea for teachers who are only in charge of a manageable number of children. Including the students’ ID numbers and birthdays (which are frequently used as passwords) is a great idea!

With @mrslarsenslittles‘ TikTok hack, managing (and always having access to!) your daily schedule has never been easier or more convenient. For those who claim this could go on the back of their cell phones—nope! This doesn’t even involve a pesky distracting germ brick! This adaptation shows how teachers can use everyday items to boost classroom efficiency and personal organization. Try this out for yourself and see how a simple lanyard becomes a quick and helpful management tool for you!
